Privacy Policy

Guess the Nutrition! (the "Game") is operated by an independent developer ("we", "us"). You can reach us at guessthenutrition@gmail.com for any question about your data or this policy.

• Account info: if you create an account, we store the username and passcode you choose. The passcode is kept only as a salted hash by our authentication provider, never in readable form, and we never ask for your email address, name or phone number. If you play as a guest, we only assign a random username and a random account ID.
• Gameplay data: your username, avatar, chosen theme, scores, stars, streaks, items you've bought with stars, and the games you've played. This is what powers the leaderboards and your profile stats.
• Device & usage data: basic technical data our hosting providers collect automatically to run the Game and keep it secure, such as IP address, browser type, and request logs.
• Local storage: a few preferences (sound on/off, which store sections you've folded) are saved only in your browser, on your device. We never see these.

We don't use advertising cookies or trackers, and we don't sell your data.

Playing as a guest creates an anonymous account tied only to your browser/device. If you later choose a username and passcode from that same guest session, we turn that same account into a regular one — every game, star and purchase you already had is kept and becomes visible on the leaderboards. If you never create an account and lose access to that browser/device (e.g. you clear its data), that guest account and its history can't be recovered.

• To run the Game: save your progress, show leaderboards, and let you play with friends.
• To keep the Game working and secure, and to investigate abuse (e.g. cheating, harassment).
• To reply if you contact us for support.

• Supabase — hosts our database and handles sign-in.
• Vercel — hosts the website you're using.
• If real-money star purchases are turned on in the future, a payment processor (e.g. Stripe or Lemon Squeezy) will handle payment details directly — we never see or store your card number.

We don't share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

Nutrition information shown in the Game comes from Open Food Facts, an open, crowd-sourced database (ODbL license). It isn't personal data and isn't linked to your account beyond the products you were shown in a game.

The Game is available to a general audience and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email us and we'll delete it.

• Change your avatar, theme and username anytime in the Game.
• Turn music/sound effects off anytime — this is stored only on your device.
• Delete your account and all of its data at any time in the app: Profile → Delete account. This is permanent and immediate. You can also email us to ask for deletion.
• We can't reset a forgotten passcode, because we don't hold an email address for your account.
• Sign out anytime from your Profile page.

We may update this policy as the Game changes. We'll update the date at the top; significant changes will be noted in the app.
